Pleading Guilty to Tax and Firearms Charges
According to the New York Times, the Justice Department and Hunter Biden, the US president's son, have reached an agreement for him to plead guilty to two counts of tax violations.
According to court filings on Tuesday (20/6), the admission of this tax violation is considered lighter so that it can avoid prosecution in another larger case, namely a separate gun possession charge.
According to the New York Times, citing court filings, Hunter Biden will plead guilty to misdemeanor charges of failing to pay taxes on time in tax years 2017 and 2018. He also agreed to serve probation.

The deal is likely to complete the investigation without having to serve a jail sentence. The Justice Department will charge Mr. Biden, but will not charge him in connection with his 2018 purchase of a firearm while he was on drugs.
The deal will depend on Hunter Biden's commitment to remain drug-free for 24 months, and agreeing to never own a firearm again. The deal still has to be approved by a federal judge. It is expected that Hunter Biden will appear in Federal Court in Delaware in the coming days, to be arraigned on tax charges with a misdemeanor and plead guilty.
The President and First Lady had little response to the dossier. "The President and First Lady loved their son and supported him as he continues to rebuild his life," Casa Putih spokesman Ian Sams said in a statement. "We will have no further comment."
The political issues, in this case, may not be resolved with Hunter Biden's guilty plea.
Over the years, Republicans have sought to prove that Hunter Biden committed several crimes that should have landed him in jail and questioned his father's honesty.
