Burnley slowly got out of Manchester City's pressure. In the 15th minute, a neat partnership on the right wing was ended by Luca Koleosho with a shot from the edge of the box although it had not tested Ederson.
A mistake at the back almost punished Man City. Rodri made a sweep so that the ball turned and then Ederson threw it away. Lyle Foster had the ball on the left side, stabbing to the left before unleashing a curling shot. The ball is off the mark.
Amid Burnley's pressure, Manchester City managed to double the score in the 36th minute. Manchester City's attack on the left wing was ended by Julian Alvarez with a flat thrust in the penalty area.
Haaland finished with a left-footed shot to send the ball into the top corner of the Burnley goal. The score is now 2-0 to Manchester City's advantage.
After halftime, Manchester City dominated possession. Foden's partnership with Haaland was continued by Alvarez with a shot that was still wide.
Burnley posed a threat through Jacon Brunn Larsen's flat kick. Ederson slipped under pressure before throwing the ball away.
Manchester City's long-awaited third goal was finally scored. In the 75th minute, Rodri rattled Burnley's goal and extended Manchester City's 3-0 lead.
Manchester City's corner was headed by a Burnley player, the ball fell at Rodri's feet. The latter fired a shot from close range into the top side of Burnley's goal.
Julian Alvarez almost scored Manchester City's fourth goal in the final 10 minutes. Alvarez stabbed into the Burnley penalty area and then fired a right-footed shot. James Trafford can still block the ball.
