2 pilots go missing when a helicopter crashes in the ocean off the coast of Dubai, United Arab Emirates during a night training flight. Two pilots on board are missing, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) aviation authority said on Friday (8/9).

The Bell 212 helicopter crashed in Gulf waters at around 20:30 (1630 GMT) on Thursday (7/9) local time, after taking off from Al Maktoum International Airport, Dubai, aviation authorities, quoted by the official WAM news agency, as reported by AFP, Friday (8/9/2023).

The two pilots were conducting a training flight for Aerogulf

At the time of the incident, the two pilots were conducting a training flight for AeroGulf, the UAE's leading commercial helicopter operator. Both pilots were Egyptian and a South African.

"Search and rescue teams have found the wreckage and are still searching for the crew," the UAE aviation authority said, adding that an investigation was underway.

AeroGulf was founded in 1976 to provide services to the oil and gas industry, before expanding its services to other sectors.
