Several Fire Spots Observed in Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park Area

"Based on SiPogi monitoring on August 18, 2023, several fire spots were observed in the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park area," said TNBTS Head of Administration Septi Eka Wardhani in an official release that has been Kompas.com confirmed, Sunday (8/20/2023). He continued, until Sunday (8/20/2023) this area is still in the process of inspection and is planned to add additional troops.

Previously, Septi said that initially the fire spot was observed in the Oro-Oro Ombo block under the peak of Mount Semeru which is included in the RPTN for the Ranupni SPTN Region III Field of Lumajang Region II.

In response to this, TNBTS officers immediately conducted direct monitoring and inspection in the field.

From the examination carried out, it was found that the burned vegetation was in the form of reeds, shrubs, litter, and some mountain trees.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation

The inspection of the TNBTS area was then continued by joint officers on Saturday (19/8/2023) to prevent the fire from spreading to Pangoan Cilik Ranu Kumbolo.

The officers who participated in this examination were TNBTS officers, Fire Care Community (MPA) Ranupani Village, Ngadas Village and Argosari Village, TNI (Koramil Senduro), and Polri (Polsek Senduro).

"The cause of the fire and the extent of the burned area are still in the process of being identified," he said. TNBTS also appealed to all parties to be careful and not to create fires around the TNBTS area.

This is considering the very dry weather conditions due to the impact of the dry season and some savannas dried up due to frost or dew some time ago.
