Ash columns were observed to be white to gray. The intensity is thick towards the north, southwest, and northwest.

Mount Semeru Status Still Level Three or Alert

The eruption of Mount Semeru was recorded by CCTV belonging to officers, as well as seismograph devices with a maximum amplitude of 22 mm and a duration of 109 seconds. The eruption occurred at 06.22 WIB.

"The eruption of Mount Semeru occurred at 06.22 WIB. The height of the eruption column was observed as high as 1,000 meters above the peak," said Mount Semeru Observation Post Officer, Mukdas Sofian in a written report, Saturday (11/18/2023).

Until now, the status of Mount Semeru is still level three or alert. Officials appealed to the public not to move into the southeast sector in the Besuk Kobokan area, as far as 13 kilometers.

In addition, officials appealed to the public to be aware of the potential for avalanche hot clouds, and lava avalanches, along the river flow that originates from Mount Semeru.
