The forest area of Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park - Mount Semeru in Ranupani Village, Senduro District, Lumajang, caught fire. Two fires continued to appear until smoke soared.

The long dry season is the cause of fires

The fires at the 2 points were in Ayek-Ayek and Sentong blocks. The fire broke out around 10 a.m.

The location of the fire, which is not far and can be reached by vehicles, makes it easier for TNI-police officers and officers from Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park to extinguish with makeshift tools.

Reporting from detikJatim, Saturday (10/14/2023), according to the Commander of Kodim 0821 Lumajang, Lieutenant Colonel Gunawan Indra, "Joint officers are now still carrying out firefighting efforts in the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park area. The blackout attempt used manual equipment."

The long dry season causes many shrubs and dry tree branches to catch fire. "The cause of this fire is purely natural factors because of the long dry season."

Until 16.00 WIB, joint officers were still extinguishing the burning Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park forest.
