The dry season is dry without rain, making several mountains in Indonesia fire. Even climbing Mount Lawu via Cetho was temporarily closed due to forest fires.
Previously, fires hit several mountains, such as Bromo, Arjuno, and Sumbing. This time, Mount Lawu on the border of Central Java and East Java, also fired.
Taking information from Kompas.com, Saturday (9/9/2023) reported that there was a fire in the Gunung Lawu protected forest area plot 33A, RPH Manyul, BKPH Lawu Utara. Due to the fire, the hiking trail to the top of Mount Lawu was temporarily closed.

The closed routes are via Cemara Sewu in Magetan Regency, East Java, and via Cemara Kandang in Karanganyar Regency, Central Java.
Lawu via Cetho is temporarily closed
The hiking trail to the top of Mount Lawu which is closed is not only via Cemara Sewu and Cemara Kandang which are adjacent.

Lawu hiking trail via Cetho Temple in Jenawi District, Karanganyar Regency, Central Java, is also temporarily closed.
The closure of the hiking trail is a follow-up to Perhutani's letter dated September 9, 2023, which decided to temporarily close the Mount Lawu hiking trail via Cetho Temple on Saturday (9/9/2023) starting at 20.00 WIB.
The news of the closure of the hiking trail has also been confirmed by Kompas.com to one of the basecamp managers named Eko in anticipation of the fire.
